Ellie Mae
July 10, 2006 – September 29, 2018
Her full name was Ellie Mae Chubbers. This name was given to her by my youngest daughter and was a character from The Monkees series in which she was currently obsessed with. She was affectionately known as Chubba.
Chubba came in to our lives on October 1, 2006 which was my daughters 16th birthday. For her to leave us just 2 days shy of this date is remarkable.
It was only 3 short months ago that I sat here writing about the loss of Tinkerbell and now to be faced with a second devastating loss seems unfathomable.
It was love at first sight for me and I fell hard! I think Tinkerbell fell just as hard. When we brought Chubba in the house Tinkerbell rose up on her back legs jumping around to welcome her. I had never witnessed anything like that. Their bond was immediate and grew stronger with each passing day. Chubba brought joy to us and purpose to Tinkerbell who took care of her like she was her puppy up until her last days.
The only comfort I have now is the belief that they are together again. I need to believe that Tinkerbell was waiting to welcome her to the other side and will continue to care for her just as she did here.
It has only been 1 day and I know the pain and grief will subside and the tears will dry up. I will miss you laying by my feet and waking me up early because you are hungry, you were always hungry!
These final few lines and this final long good-bye are proof that my tears are not dry yet. As they roll down my face and my heart breaks inside my chest I cannot believe you are gone.
I will love you forever and miss you until we meet again.
