Hi, welcome to my blog.  Thanks for stopping by.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I am a 50 something Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, adventure seeking, endurance running Grandma.  Oh yeah and I love to travel, eat good food and enjoy a good glass of (red) wine and indulge in a nice IPA!  I am married to a great guy that shares all my “loves” which is one of the many reasons I love him and that we are such a good match.

Before I met my husband I would run for fitness.  I remember telling him that I did not run outside.  He must have thought I was nuts because that’s all he did.  Once I crossed over and started running outside there was no turning back.  Yes I still need to run on a treadmill since I live in Chicago and am a big weenie and hate the cold and snow but always look forward to a break in the weather so I can get outside to run!

Our races or our “adventures” as we call them have become more challenging and exciting as the years go by.  I say adventures because I am at best a back of the middle of the pack runner.  I never expect to be the one to break thru the finish line first.  That is not why I run.  I run for the challenge, for the freedom I feel and for the beauty of the locations we run.  I also like to see how far I can push myself both physically and mentally.  Running is very much a mental sport.  If your heads working against you it’s not gonna happen that day.  I guess my biggest race is against myself.

I run mostly trails now with an occasional road race thrown in there.  I guess I should mention that I am afraid of heights, so at times this poses yet another challenge – overcome the fear and keep climbing!  What fun would life be without a little fear and a few challenges?

Where will your next adventure take you?

Sampling some red wine at Cowgirl Winery in Carmel Valley. This was by far one of my favorites on this trip.
